NVIDIA Buries ATI

Do you think NVIDIA will do the same to ATI, as they did to 3dfx, some years ago? I hope not, but when it comes to hopes, I am sure they have some dark desires related to their main competitor. Just hear what David Kirk, NVIDIA's chief scientist, has to say about the competition, and think twice before deciding to put money in their pocket next time!(I don't have anything against NVIDIA, I had a few of their cards so far, but I don't like this attitude)

"AMD has been declining because it hasn’t built a competitive graphics architecture for almost two years now - ever since the AMD/ATI merger. They’ve been pulling engineers [from the GPU teams] to Fusion, which integrates GPU technology onto the CPU. They have to do four things to survive, but I don’t think they have enough money to do one thing."Just look at the above! AMD doesn't have a competitive graphics architecture on the market now? Come on! ATI's position on the low and mid-range graphics cards market is pretty strong, despite NVIDIA's latest releases, and when it comes to "best performance for low price," the HD 3850 is unbeatable in its price range!

Anyway, it seems NVIDIA has some problems because they are losing ground in the integrated graphics market, or maybe I am just dreaming...but look at this: "The first thing they have to do to compete with Intel is the process technology – they have to build the new fabs. The second thing is the next-generation CPU technology. The third one is the next generation GPU technology - we’re going to invest one billion dollars in here this year and they need to invest on the same level to keep up with us. And then the fourth thing is they say the future is going to be this integrated CPU/GPU thing called Fusion, which there’s no evidence to suggest this is true but they just said it. They believe it and they’re now doing it."

OK, Mr. Kirk, you got your interview purblished by Bit-tech, now get back to the drawing board and spend well that billion dollars, because things may not be just as you see them. Well, maybe you get lucky and NVIDIA will acquire AMD...or not!
