Lenovo IdeaCentre A320

The IdeaCentre A320 is a lot more ergonomic compared to Lenovo’s earlier models. The entire screen is very flexible as it is supported on a single hinge. Therefore, you can easily swivel or tilt it, thereby allowing you to adjust it to suit your sitting position. The Full HD Display screen comes in a size of 21.5 inch and with LED backlighting. The panel is cosseted by a glass that covers the bezel, giving it a flawless look. The quality of the panel is very good and due to the glossy effect, the colors appear rich and crisp.
The bezel also accommodates a webcam and microphone. Below, there are three white LED status lights for the HDD activity, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. On the right, there’s a bunch of touch sensitive menu buttons which is a first for an all-in-one. The sensitivity of the buttons could have been better though. The options include brightness, Novo Vision (viewing modes), mode switch, volume and OSD language.
The remaining components are placed at the base of the desktop. All the ports are placed in a line along the side and stretches all the way to the back. For, connectivity there are two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, headphone and microphone jack, memory card reader, and HDMI-in and HDMI-out. The A320 is powered by Intel’s newest Core i3 210M mobile chipset based on the Sandy Bridge architecture. Apart from that the Lenovo IdeaCenter includes 3 GB RAM, external DVD burner, 750 GB hard drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a wireless keyboard and mouse. There’s no discrete graphics card, which means you can forget about playing the latest games. He bundled mouse is comfortable, albeit a bit small but it is not very ergonomic. The keys on the keyboard are too soft and many times, the inputs weren’t registered.
Windows runs smoothly on the configuration at hand and so do full HD movies. The glossy screen does attract reflections, but it makes the pictures and video a lot livelier. The built-in speakers come with SRS enhancement, which makes the sound louder, but not by much. You can watch cable TV through the provided port and Lenovo also bundles a remote, which works with Windows Media Center. The extra HDMI connector means you can easily connect a DVD player or a game console using the same display.
The Lenovo IdeaCenter is available at a fairly decent price and offers better value than the B500 as it is a bit cheaper and more feature rich. However, it is still a bit expensive since you get the mobile of the Core i3 processor which is a bit underpowered for a desktop. Also, the lack of a dedicated graphics card means you won’t be able to do any serious gaming. Other areas of concern are the built-in speakers, which aren’t too loud and the keyboard is not a full-sized one.
