All USB drives have some settings that inform operating system about the optimization of their usage. In order to view it right click on the USB drive icon present in My Computer and select properties. There you will see hardware tab, click on that tab and select USB drive from the list and then click on properties button. Very first method is to click on Start>Run and type RunDll32.exe shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll. This code will bring the same dialog box that used to come when we click on the safely remove icon present in the system tray. You can click in this dialog box to safely remove the USB drive from USB port. It’s not possible for everyone to remember such a long and typical code and for all such user there is one more method that can be used to safely remove USB drive. For that Right Click on My Computer and then click on Manage. Then select USB Mass Storage Device then right click on this option and disable it. If due to some reason you forget to enable it again, you will not be able to use any of the external drives, so make sure that you don’t forget doing this.

Another perfect method is to create a batch file having the content RunDll32.exe shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll and whenever you will execute this batch file, dialog box will appear on the screen where you can stop USB drive.
