Computer Personal Storage

Computer storage refers to the “memory” of the computer as well.  It is the amount of items the computer can hold, even when the machine  is turned off. This type of computer personal storage can exist in various ways.

You can have internal storage: hard drive or you can  get your information on external storage, using various accessories such  as diskettes and discs. But between these there are more to it, depending on the amount of items you want to store and the type of  storage you want, in the computer, or portable one, so you can take the  information anywhere with you.

So let’s evaluate the computer personal storage available  today. First of all, I don’t know how many people still use this method,  is the diskette. These old units can be introduced in the computer  which has a floppy-disk. Back in the days, there weren’t so many  applications and games available, so the amount of space occupied by the  existing ones was limited. So you didn’t need much in order to save  some documents, applications or picture on your diskette. The bad thing  about them is that in many cases they needed a lot of format and thus  losing the existing information on them.  Then the compact disc came up,  with up to 700MB available to store. You can place an entire avi format  movie on them, lots of MP3 music files and pictures. There CDs are used  even today and they are one of the most common ways of storing  information outside the computer.  Once the disc is kept away from  scratches and other damages, the information can stay a long time on it.

It’s time for the DVDs. These have the same shape and they look a lot  like the CDs, but the memory capacity is definitely higher. In this  case you can store multiple movies, in DVD format as well, pictures and  hundreds of sound tracks. Due to the low price and the memory capacity  (even 8GB), these are nowadays one of the most used portable storage  items.  We all know that the hard drive belongs inside the computer, but  it is no longer the case. If you have a laptop or notebook with limited  memory, you can get an external hard drive and keep your important  files close by. With a capacity of up to 1TB, these are by far the most  spacious portable storage devices.  Another great way to carry your  data, even at your keys in form of a keychain is the USB flash drive.  This tiny little critter can be placed in any gadget having USB ports  (computer, laptop, printer and so on). You can find some USB flash  drives with the memory capacity of a DVD disc. The price is not high and  anyone can afford such a method depending on the amount of space they  want on their USB device.

And now for the latest creation, the Blu-ray disc. This type is not  for everybody, it is for the ones having Blu-ray format at their  computer, or home cinema system or even a Blu-ray system. Movies in  Blu-ray format are considered to have the best video and sound quality,  crystal clear images and sound. About 50GB is available on a Blu-ray  disc.
