The hard disk drive contains important data that is driven to it from the motherboard or that is driven from it to the motherboard. The compact disk drive, also very important among the computer hardware components, stores data optically and are very appreciated by the users because they can store up to 700 Mbytes of information. This aspect makes it to be used by many of the users, who usually need a drive that can store as much data as possible for them within the computer. The compact disk drives are being powered by 4-pin cables which are as well connected to the power supply within the computer, being in this way dependent of this component.

The fourth type of drive included within the computer hardware is the digital video disk drive. This drive has also been named by the specialists the digital versatile disk drive. For this type of device the specialists have created special systems that can allow for this drive to be removed from the computer without removing the screws that are used for securing it. As well as the compact disk drive, this one is known to store data optically, but this time on DVDs. It is powered by a pin cable connected to the power supply as well. There are two basic types of digital video disk drives: the so-called read only memory (DVD-ROM) and the random access memory (DVD-RAM). The difference between the two types is that the former can only read CDs and DVDs while the latter can also write DVDs.
