The Xoom whooshes to the crest of the tablet class in overall style and design. The build of this tablet is solid and stylish. The tab comes with a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera and is capable of 720p video recording at 30 fps. The picture quality is just average for indoor shoots while it fares better outdoors. The dual-LED flash is powerful and easily illuminates the subject in a very dark room provided you keep a distance of five to six feet from the subject. The quality of the image captured is quite clear with a good amount of detail. The 720 p video recording is smooth for most part but while panning you can see some small jerks.

In terms of connectivity, the 3G model supports quad band GSM and HSDPA, HSUPA, dual bad Wi-Fi n and Bluetooth v2.1. The 3G SI can only be used for data since the Xoom does not have any telephony functions. The tablet comes with a default browser called WebKit and is pretty ok for casual web surfing as it supports tabs, full Flash 10.1 support etc.

The cost of this tab is slightly higher than its competitor – the Samsung Galaxy Tab 750. Both the tabs have similar feature sets except for the fact that the internal memory in the Samsung Galaxy tab is only 16 GB as compared to the 32 GB of Motorola’s Xoom. Motorola Xoom does not come with any customizations and hence out of the box, the Xoom’s feature set is pretty limited until you install apps. Overall, the performance of Motorola’s Xoom is quite impressive.

Design and Features of DELL VOSTRO 3750

The 3750 by DELL has a very similar design to that of VI30 except that it isn’t slim or portable. The body is sturdy and built well but the lid has too much flex and hence you can clearly see it contorting. For connectivity there are four USB ports that include two USB 3.0 ports. There is also a DVD reader and writer, a HDMI port, a VGI port and a card reader. You also have the Express card slot and microphone and headphone jack.

Once you open up the lid, you have the full-sized chic keyboard that has been spaced out very well which makes it comfortable for users that sit through long typing sessions. You also have the power button along with three shortcut buttons for quick settings, DELL support center and one for customizing it to open any application of your choice.

The VOSTRO 3750 really makes a good desktop replacement thanks to the full-sized comfortable keyboard. The keys offer a good feedback and are well spaced out and hence you are less likely to accidently hit the wrong key. However the track pad isn’t very impressive.

The battery lifetime lasts for an hr with Battery Eater Pro. For regular use with the Power Save mode, you can easily get up to 2-2.5 hrs of battery life. Unlike the smaller sized VOSTRO notebooks, this one comes with a removable battery and you can choose between a 6-cell and a 9-cell battery.

Overall this notebook performs well and does not cost you a bomb, which is surprising for a high-end notebook. It is a good option for someone who is looking for a desktop replacement with good productivity and functional multimedia features.

The bezel also accommodates a webcam and microphone. Below, there are three white LED status lights for the HDD activity, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. On the right, there’s a bunch of touch sensitive menu buttons which is a first for an all-in-one. The sensitivity of the buttons could have been better though. There’s no discrete graphics card, which means you can forget about playing the latest games. He bundled mouse is comfortable, albeit a bit small but it is not very ergonomic. The keys on the keyboard are too soft and many times, the inputs weren’t registered.

Windows runs smoothly on the configuration at hand and so do full HD movies. The glossy screen does attract reflections, but it makes the pictures and video a lot livelier. The built-in speakers come with SRS enhancement, which makes the sound louder, but not by much. You can watch cable TV through the provided port and Lenovo also bundles a remote, which works with Windows Media Center. The extra HDMI connector means you can easily connect a DVD player or a game console using the same display.

The Lenovo IdeaCenter is available at a fairly decent price and offers better value than the B500 as it is a bit cheaper and more feature rich. However, it is still a bit expensive since you get the mobile of the Core i3 processor which is a bit underpowered for a desktop. Also, the lack of a dedicated graphics card means you won’t be able to do any serious gaming. Other areas of concern are the built-in speakers, which aren’t too loud and the keyboard is not a full-sized one.
