iPhone 4 Vs. Galaxy S

Published by dipti, on February 27th, 2012, in the categories: Purchasing tips

Samsung Galaxy is giving a tough competition to iphone 4 and users can’t decide whether Galaxy S is a less good phone. If you check out the recent market reviews in smart phone category, you will find that Samsung is leading the race by providing wide range of high class handsets with affordable price. Samsung Galaxy S has stunning screen along with eye catching features and in competition to this Galaxy Phone comes Apple’s iPhone 4.

Very first feature to discuss in both these hi-tech features enabled high platform phone is their touch screen. Samsung Galaxy S has 4 inch super AMOLED color screen with 480x800 pixels. Screen quality is sharp and suits best with other features of Galaxy S. On the other hand iPhone 4 screen is of 3.5 inch with retina display and has 640x960 pixels. Apple’s iPhone comes with scratch prevented cover that protects the screen from scratches.

Good camera quality is a must to have feature in any multimedia phone, especially in the category of smart phones. Samsung Galaxy S has 5 mega pixels camera present at the rear end but the drawback is that it does not have flash that makes it hard for its user to take pictures at dark place. Galaxy S also has one secondary camera available on the front side for making video calls. On the other hand, iPhone 4 has 5 megapixels camera along with LED flash that helps you in taking picture even at complete dark places. Front portion of iPhone 4 has VGA camera along with Face-Time call feature. Camera quality of iPhone 4 is high with a resolution of 720 pixels. Advantage of flash in iPhone leads camera feature in comparison to Samsung Galaxy.

Next and very important feature is the processor quality. Luckily both Samsung Galaxy and iPhone 4 have 1GHz processor. While Galaxy S uses ARM’s processor, Apple uses its own Apple A4 processor that has been used in Apple’s iPad. I am sure Samsung will definitely give strong and tough fight to iPhone 4 in processor quality. Samsung Galaxy uses Android 2.1 along with Samsung Touch-Wiz UI. Best part with Android platform is that it allows multitasking that proves to be an advantage point in Galaxy S. However Apple’s iPhone runs on newly developed iOS 4 that includes interchanging of wallpapers, software for controlling audio quality and allows multitasking too. This Audio Controller works with any kind of audio application along with iPod applications.

In Operating System category, Apple iPhone 4 beats Samsung Galaxy without any doubt. It’s hard to say which phone leads the competition because both of them are ahead of each other in some category. If you check overall, Samsung S leads the fight and the reason is quite obvious. Not every one can buy iPhone 4 because of its high price tag however Samsung Galaxy S on the other hand is cost effective that’s why become the first choice for customers.

In terms of Connectivity, Samsung Galaxy S has lots of option like Wi-Fi, NFC, 4G, BT and DLNA. In some way we can say that Galaxy S is much easier to use in terms of connectivity. You can easily connect Galaxy S to your laptop using any of these features but for iPhone 4 you have to pay some extra price in order to activate the connectivity service. Samsung Galaxy S is a top quality smart phone that uses open source Android Platform that makes this smart phone favorable to use. It has stunning screen that makes browsing so easy to perform But Touch-Wiz user interface of Galaxy S is not as user friendly as Apple’s user interface.

Technology geek may find it easy to select the best smart phone among these two. While Galaxy S is an affordable phone in smart phone category, but people who are brand conscious, Apple’s iphone is definitely iconic.

No doubt, launch of iPad has held the makers of Netbook to some extent. Without worrying further, Netbook maker has launched their product in the market and has acquired the market quite well. Price wise, iPad starts with $500 having 16 GB of storage and goes up to $900 with 64 GB. Whereas for Netbook, you just need few hundred dollars and you can get memory up to 150 GB. Portability wise, Netbook is a bit heavier than iPad. Netbook weighs up to 3 pounds whereas iPad up to 1.5 pound. Users, especially woman, like iPad very much as they are easy to carry and can be kept in their handbags without any problem. Definitely when it comes to hanging iPad or Netbook on the shoulder, iPad leads the way.

Not in every case but sometimes you may find Netbook a bit slow due to its slow processing speed. In case of iPad, you will get quick 3G service that makes it fast and quick. In case of Netbook there are only limited set of applications that can run on it and the worst part is that they all come pre-installed that restricts you from installing new software. In case of iPad, no need to worry as by paying just $5 or less, you can purchase and install any application. You can install applications from designing to editing on iPad.

The iPad lacks Adobe Flash Support that makes it difficult for browsing. In most of the video sites, you need to reinstall Adobe flash player that will definitely irritate users. On Netbook you can access to any of the browser you wish to. It gives full support to Flash, Silver light and other add-ons that are required to play video or online games.  Screen of Netbook is small in comparison to iPad that makes it difficult to zoom in or zoom out pages on Netbook but in case of iPad you can do that without breaking the pixels of the page or picture. You can use full version of MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point and can edit files in these applications wherever you want but in case of iPad you have to pay some amount in order to use these applications. Unfortunately iPad has no local storage, so if you want to edit any file online, you have to do that using any mail program and have to mail that file back to your mail id.

Portability wise you will love to carry Netbook as it is small in size, light weight and can fit in almost any bag. Netbook has long battery life that makes it best travel companion for its user. As far as iPad is concerned, you will need some sort of stand or cover to protect the iPad. Best part with iPad is that it is smaller and lighter than the smallest Netbook and its IPS display has various viewing angles that help in delivering clear view of the content of the screen.

After discussing features of both Netbook and iPad we come to know that both netbook and ipad have their own pros and cons. Now it totally depends on the buyers as to which feature they give more priority?

Netbook Vs Notebook

Published by dipti, on January 25th, 2012, in the categories: Purchasing tips

Technology has reduced the size of computer and laptop to Netbook and Notebook. Both of these have got almost every feature that you can expect from computer or laptop but the latter do differ from PC in some or the other way.

Coming to Netbook and Notebook, both of them are in high demand due to their ultra light weight and portability feature. Good if we are comparing them with heavy weight laptops but what when we have to choose between Netbook and Notebook? Both of them are for this generation and selecting the one from both could be a tough decision for most of us. So in order to help you, here we have discussed some of the basic differences between Netbook and Notebook that will definitely help you in selecting the one for your use.

Appearance wise, Netbook and Notebook are much alike and has a LCD attached with a keyboard but they do differ in their features. They may be similar in appearance but size wise they vary. Notebook has a screen size between 14.1 to 15.4 inches whereas Netbook fixes its display at 12 inch and that is maximum it has got. So clearly you will find it hard enough to play games on Netbook as compared to Notebook. Processor for both the gadgets is another major area of discussion. Faster the processor, faster the page will load up. Netbook Processor may give you hard time to struggle with 1080 pixel movie and will give you bad movie experience. For gamers who love to play highly animated and realistic games like Max Payne and World of War craft, Netbook is a big no for such games because its screen is undersized. Notebook offers better graphics quality and is perfect device to play such games. Both Notebook and Netbook are lighter if we are comparing them with PC or laptop but Netbook is much lighter than Notebook.

Netbook weighs between 2 to 3 pounds, is small and ultra light that makes it easy to fit into travel bag and to use anywhere without any problem, whereas Notebook weighs between 5 to 6 pounds. As Netbook has smaller LCD screen, it consumes less power but due to the presence of low battery option it is not much affective as in case of Netbook that gives you extra hours to work as compared to Notebook. You can work for hours on a single charge as compared to Notebook. Advantage of ultra light body, small size and long run on batteries is of no use as Netbook does not comes with CD drive and has only 2 to 3 USB ports to use. Netbook can not handle applications that require good consumption of processor. Notebook has CD/DVD drive and has more than 3 USB ports. It can handle high end applications and almost all kind of games can be played on it.

Netbook is a web oriented computer that depends upon the internet for its processing as internet makes the processing need of Netbook less demanding. So if any user, who wants to consume, read data or browse data on the internet should go with Netbook. Netbook costs less than Notebook as it has so many less features than Notebook. Go for the one of these two that matches your requirements and pocket both.

Desktop Vs Laptop

Published by dipti, on September 12th, 2011, in the categories: Purchasing tips

We all know that this is a century of technology and inventions and we are faced with difficult choices while selecting the most suitable technology in computers or any other gadget for that matter. A major dilemma is faced when deciding desktop Vs Laptop.

If we talk about the computer system, we know that after every 6 months we would find some new features added to the same configuration or operating system. So the question is whether one should go for Desktop or Laptop?” but as we all know that the laptops are the new craze among youngsters for many reasons but we can’t make any decision just on this basis. There are some benefits and drawbacks for choosing Desktop or Laptop and in this article we are going to highlight them in brief.

The first good point about laptop is its portability. You can take it to your office, college, seminars etc but this facility is not associated with desktop as it is a combination of monitor, CPU, keyboard, Mouse and UPS and carrying all these things is not possible. However, portability of laptop also makes it susceptible to theft and other security issues. So one has to carry laptop with care or else the data may get lost.

Another drawback of Laptop is related to its parts, which means if there is some problem in your laptop then you have to take it to the manufacturer’s service center for repair. And if it’s not in warranty replacement of parts might become too expensive. However, in case of a desktop, even if the parts are of a different brand or manufacturing, it assimilates with the system. Also, if you are giving your laptop for repair chances are that the repair shop steals other original parts of your system and also tampers with the data. However, in case of the desktop, generally the service person replaces the parts in your presence and chances of theft or tampering is reduced.

Another drawback of laptop is that it is more expensive than desktop. You can even think for getting assembled desktop within your budget but you can not get one assembled laptop, you have to purchase it as a complete set from the showroom. Desktop is suitable for people who do not need to carry their system out for work. It is quite suitable for home based work, and household stuff. However, if you have your own business and need to carry work related data to customers or other places then having a laptop is mandatory.

Laptop is portable and can be carried easily but it has its own set of problems. Suppose you forget your login password then the only option left with you is take out the CMOS battery, insert it again and format the whole system. It is a complex and time taking procedure. To open your laptop is not an easy task and even a slight mistake while opening it may affect the sensor of the touchpad and make it dead to use. If this problem would have occurred in your desktop, you can simple open your CPU cabinet and can find CMOS battery located on the motherboard. So desktop has many advantages that laptop can never have and in the same way laptop has many advantages that desktop can never have. Both have their own pros and cons. In fact laptop is today’s demand but you can find many people still going for desktop as its simple to use and easy to maintain. But if portability is the main concern for you, go for laptop or else for every other reason don’t forget that you have second option (Desktop) left.
